In LibreOffice Writer 3.5, I can right-click on a "misspelled" word and add it to standard.dic, but the addition is not retained beyond the current session. After I close LibreOffice and open it again, the added words are still flagged as being misspelled. This was not the case in previous versions.

Same problem here. It appears to be a bug in 3.5 where the custom words are not loading when your document opens. If you run a manual spell check, or right click on one of them, then the custom words get loaded and all of the ones it thinks are misspelled are fine. Your custom words are getting added to standard.dic. But they aren't getting loaded properly the next time you restart LibreOffice until after you run a spell check or right click on one of the words it thinks is misspelled.

I'm going to file a bug report about it, assuming one isn't already on file.

Ok, thank you for that info, and for filing the bug report!
