Libre office 4 will not install on windows 8, it shows cab errors

libre office 4 will not install on windows 8
it shows cab errors about half way through
w8 pro 64
clean install

Downloaded from your site and the file was not corrupted.
No idea what a md5 hash is, uh!
I tried it on a W7 machine I have and works fine.
I spoke to some work colleagues and it seems W8 with new version is having a problem.
Ive downloaded a previous version and it is ok.

One thing for the future, it would be nice to just have an upgrade from a previous version and not to have to uninstall and reinstall, this must create all kinds of problems.

Hi @Jess1, I believe that there is (was?) an upgrade tool, but I’m not sure if that’s working on Windows or Windows8.

I’m going to ping the QA team and ask them if there’s a known issue installing on your OS

@Jess1what does the updater do?. The updater seems to just notify you of a new version and (optionally) download it for you. I’m not sure it works across major versions (e.g. 3.6 → 4.0).

Hi @Jess1,

It sounds like you might have an incomplete/corrupt download of LO 4.0:

When you download the installer, please verify that the filesize and the md5 hash match what’s listed on the website:

Please let us know how things turn out for you!

I have the same problem. I have freshly installed windows 8 and I never downloaded or installed libreoffice 4.0. Libreoffice 4.1 cannot install. Says the cab file is corrupted.

So much for your theory on a corrupted 4.0 download.
