LibreOffice 4.0, Draw, Ubuntu x86_64, Any method to import vss/vsx Visio stencils?

I’ve installed the recently released LibreOffice 4.0, on my Ubuntu x86_64 workstation, and I’m unable to import Visio Stencils. Does any possible way to utilize Visio stencils exist?

When I mention Visio stencils, I’m specifically referring to the VSS and VSX formats. Although if anyone knows anything about Visio 2013 format support, VSDX and VSSX, I’d appreciate the status update. Currently I’ve successfully imported a handful of VSD files, and was generally impressed.

I’m completely aware of the difficult history, using proprietary Visio formats, so any related explanation is unnecessary. Additionally all the computers I’m able to access run GNU/Linux distributions, so using Windows for a work-around impossible.

Hi @techzilla,

@Techzilla,

I’m not very familiar with the Visio work or Visio stencils, but I believe that all of the latest work on that front has gone into the 4.0.0.3 build.

I did find two bugs already reported that refer to Visio stencils in VSS/VSX files:

  • fdo#60638 - Libvisio: Cisco stencils are not displayed properly
  • fdo#60639 - Libvisio: Unable to import Cisco Stencils from a VSS file

If you’re looking for additional support of the Visio file formats beyond what’s currently available or described in the two bug reports above, please file an enhancement bug and provide as much information as possible. The QA team will be happy to help you triage your feature request in the bugtracker.

If you do file an enhancement bug, please post a link to it in a comment below using the format “fdo#123456”.

Thanks!
