Landscape view and print not working in Calc

I have a spreadsheet whose page properties are set to landscape view yet in page preview it shows it as portrait. When you print it it will print in portrait. I even tried to get it to print landscape by going through the print properties and it printed on 2 pages instead of 1 with cells all cut off on the top and bottom. Am I missing something? Why is the landscape preview not working? I first noticed the problem with LibreOffice 3.5 and 3.6, on computers both running Ubuntu 12.4. I switched to LibreOffice 4.0 and I still can’t print in landscape. So far I have been working around the issue by printing in Gnumeric, which prints the exact same file automatically from the file’s page settings. I would rather not have to switch back and forth, and I have been trying to promote LibreOffice as a full office suite for small business customers.

Right after I posted this question I realized I had not yet tried re-creating the file. One thing I forgot to mention was that these were originally Microsoft Excel files that we converted to LibreOffice. Simply changing the file to the LibreOffice format did not fix the issue, but copying and pasting the information from the original sheet into a new file solved the problem. Everything is now working smoothly.

I have just run into the same problem. However, I created a new spreadsheet in LibreOffice Calc, and cannot print from it in landscape format. If I create a new Calc file I can print landscape. If I paste the contents of the former into the new file I cannot any longer print landscape.
There may be a way round. Nevertheless, this is a major bug, which makes Calc in many situations more than useless.
