When installing LO in Windows it insists that I have LO open or the quick start menu. I have closed both. I also have OOo and Lotus Symphony installed but have also closed them with their quick start menus. I tried uninstalling LO and starting from scratch with no luck. Any suggestions?
Load Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and End any process named soffice.exe soffice.bin and quickstart.exe in the Processes tab (you can sort processes alphabetically by clicking on the Image Name column).

Brilliant. Many thanks for the help. A warning for anyone who is already using OpenOffice and trying to install LO
