thanks

What operating system are you using? what language?

Does this happen when you create two new documents and do your thing? Does it happen always?

It could also be important to know in way you transfer it to writer.

I made a test in Version 4.0.3.3 (Build ID: 0eaa50a932c8f2199a615e1eb30f7ac74279539) portable, XP Prof/SP3.

I copied chart in Calc selecting, ctrl+c, opened writer and pasted with ctrl+v
Saved writer and closed LibO.

Next double clicking on file and it opened in Version 3.6.6.2 (Build ID: f969faf) my deffault installation), Chart was to be seen

Next started up 4.0.3.3 opened writer file and chart was visible.

I’m using the 4.0.3.3 (Build ID: 0eaa50a932c8f2199a615e1eb30f7ac74279539, using windows 8, Australian English and yeah it does always happen.Yeah so say I’m making an graph in calc and i decide to transfer it to writer by using the Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v process. I then saved the writer document, closed it down reopened the document and the graph is no were to be seen. but i also don’t want to be carrying to versions of Libre Office around to open one document.

Which file format are you using? ODT/ODS?

im using microsoft office 2007/2010 (.docx)

There are a couple of open bugs relating to the use of charts within the DOCX file format:

  • FDO#40594, Excel/Word created DOCX does not display the chart (when opened by Writer).
  • FDO#55715, Calc/Writer created DOCX results in the chart not displaying (Writer) or a corrupt file message (Word).

It sounds to me like you are experiencing fdo#55715.
