Does anyone know if its possible (or how to) insert an .avi file in the background of the slide, then on top of it, have multiple text animations as the .avi file plays? Every time I set this up, no matter how its layers, the .avi file always plays on top, so you don’t even see the animated text… Any suggestions would be welcome.

This appears to be bug fdo#76147. I know of no workaround for this issue.
I go online and convert mp4 to gif. That gives me the effect I am looking for.
