Can I import data via a spreadsheet into a base table?

I have quite a bit of data already resident in a spreadsheet. Is there a way to get that into an already created base table?

Alex Kemp has closed all discussions of this problem by pointing to a method that requires copying the entire database into the Clipboard. That method does not work for my spreadsheet with 50 columns and 100,000 rows. Is there a way to import a spreadsheet that large as a database that can be joined in a relation (i.e. has a key)?
