I cant see my picture

I successful insert picture in my document and save it. When I again open my document the picture is gone.I see only frame where the picture should be

Please what is your Operating System, LibreOffice version, and the file type used to save?

This is my first ever post on here and it’s a complaint!

If I insert a picture into an odt file and save the document the picture is lost.

As a way round this seemingly common problem I use “Save As” instead and keep two master files alternating between them. This seems to work and pictures are not lost.

Is different code used for processing pictures in “Save As” as opposed to “Save” ?

Libre Office 4.0.4.2
Windows XP Pro

How are you creating the documents, and what format are they in? Right-click on the desktop under Windows can sometimes result in a text-file being created, so all formatting appears to be lost. Make sure you are using an ODT/DOC/DOCX and post an example file if possible. Thanks.

I’m sorry, I thought I’d make it clear in my post.

I said “Libre Office 4.0.4.2” and I said
“If I insert a picture into an odt file”

I am using LibreOffice writer as it’s an odt file.
And I use the command “Insert Picture From File” to insert a picture into the text and it’s always a jpg I insert. If I then just save the file the picture I have inserted is not saved. I have to 'Save As" to ensure the newly inserted picture is saved. Once it has been saved it’s fine from then on and doesn’t disappear again.

The file I am creating is 149 pages long and I don’t want to attach it here.

I work round this problem at the moment but it’s not a permanent option. I suspect, but haven’t yet proved, that the automatic save will lose the newly inserted picture too.
