Dutch spell check does not work correctly

I have just installed LibreOffice 4.0.4 on Windows XP. The Dutch spelling dos not work in Writer. Every word is marked as an error and the suggestions for correction do not make any sense.

The dictionary is in the extensions directory and the language is marked with the blue abc check mark in the settings menu.

I have uninstalled and deleted all previous versions of LibreOffice (and OpenOffice).

Spell check in English does seem to work. However, the spell check reports it is using the US dictionary in stead of the UK dictionary, which is the one in my extensions directory. I don’t know what that means, but it might give a clue as to what is going on.

How can I get the spell check to work?

Please, what is your UI language and what is your default language for western languages?

There’s a bug with the Dutch spell check in LibreOffice 4.0.4,

see Bug 65994 - Dutch spell checking does not work …

Status: RESOLVED FIXED · target: v4.0.5 / v4.1.0.

You may download the attachment “fix for Dutch spell corrector in english” for v4.0.4.

Unzip the archive file and read instructions.txt.

… or - alternatively - the attachment “fix voor Nederlandse spelling corrector”, with instructies.txt.

This is excellent news! Thanks @manj_k

I think the patch targeted for v4.0.5 and v4.1.0 may still exhibit problems, according to a report here: http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/6200 and the comments in the bug.
