How to preserve a cell's format when cutting from it in Calc

Hi, I frequently cut/paste contents from cells in my worksheets, but I use specific formats for the entire page. However, when I cut a cell, the cell's formatting returns to the default. I understand there's a way to save a worksheet in a desired template but I am working with a huge amount of worksheets that were imported from Excel. Is there a way to prevent Calc from reverting a cell's format to default when I cut it, or is there a way to tell Calc to only cut a cell's contents, not its format?

Don't cut directly. 1- Copy. 2- [del], [backspace] give more options.
