Trying to open *.doc file

T.ying to open a downloaded xxx.doc file and get the message
“Read-Error.
This is not a WinWord6 file.”

Open Office also give the same read-error.

Default application for .doc is LO

A .doc generated in LO is retrieved with no problem.
Frustration reigns.

The file is likely corrupted. You can try to download the file again. If you still get the error, contact the author of the doc file and ask that they look into it.
