I'm attempting to update my LibreOffice 3.4.0 to 3.5.3. I tried to uninstall 3.4.0 and received "Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\libreoffice34.msi. Attempted to install 3.4.6 and 3.5.3 and received the same error.

What is file libreoffice34.msi and where can I get it?

Thanks.

1316 error on windows is caused when the windows registry still has some information about the application but cannot find the installer file to remove it.
to fix this:
start > run > regedit
go to HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer\Products
search for libreoffice34.msi
delete the key found in 'Products' that contains the above
------------
the above tells Windows that X is not installed.

You might try as follows:

  • Download LibO_3.4.0_Win_x86_install_multi.exe [26-May-2011 08:43 188M]downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/3.4.0.2/win/x86/

  • Reinstall/Execute LibO_3.4.0_Win_x86_install_multi.exe (libreoffice34.msi is a file of the extracted *.exe)

  • Select Repair if LibreOffice 3.4.0 is still installed (the installer will offer this option)

  • Then (if successfully installed/repaired) restart your operating system, uninstall LibreOffice 3.4.0 via Control Panel, and restart your operating system again

  • Execute LibO_3.5.3rc2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi

  • If successfully installed: remove LibO_3.4.0_Win_x86_install_multi.exe, and the folder with the extracted *.exe

With a spark of hope...
