In word you can right click on a field and choose to toggle between seeing the value of the field (i.e., the finished product) and the code that generates it. You can then modify the code. In LO writer you can see what the code is by clicking view->navigator, but you can't change it there. Is there some way to modify the field code in LO?

Is Menu/View/Field names, what you are looking for?

No - that just shows the name, not the code. For the fields I'm trying to edit (they're citations inserted using a bibliography manager plugin) changing to view names doesn't actually change anything

When double-click the field it is open a window about the field. What do you mean with code?
