Installation stuck on "Creating Shortcuts"; any idea?

I am installing LibreOffice 4.1.4.1 on a Win 8.1 computer, I tried 3 times but each time the installation gets stuck at the “creating shortcuts” status. I have waited up to 30mn. If I cancel the install, it does not stop it, so I have to kill it in task manager.

Any idea how I can:
-1- get it to install properly
-2- if not kill it and delete all the changes it already did to that point (and then I will have to look for another office suite)

Thanks

I am experiencing the exact same problem, new HP Envy laptop, Windows 8.1, locks up with the Creating Shortcuts message. I did install ‘ClassicShell’ in an attempt to make 8.x useful.

I have the same problem installing LibreOffice 4.1.4.2 on Windows 8.1. After waiting a while I told it to cancel installation. It asked whether I was sure I wanted to do this and I said yes, but it remains stuck on “Creating shortcuts”. So I can’t get roll back the installation either.

I wonder if it could have something to do with the fact that I uninstalled the same version of LibreOffice before running the installer to reinstall it on a different drive. I did not reboot the computer in between. Perhaps some resource remains locked.
