LO Base Data entry

I would like to enter data into a new record based on data from the previous record. In other words in my form I see my last record containing data. When I go to the next (new) record the previous data shown disappears and of course that is what it should do in the databases' most simple form. I, however, want to go to the new record and edit or accept the data in the new record fields. How can I do this?

Nothing in my web searches have given me a clue as to how to do this. I would appreciate any help about this that one can provide.

There are examples using macros. Search for openoffice OR libreoffice base duplicate record. Here is one that I tried that worked OK.

Thank you. It did not occur to me that a macro might be needed. Appreciate your help.
