I keep getting error 1402 on Windows 7

I can’t upload the image, alas.

But it says:

Error 1402. Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
CurrentVersion\ShareDLLs. Verify that you have sufficient
access to the key, or contact your support personnel.

I have administrative rights and I never get the box that has the admin button when I try to install, just the “Do you want to run…” message.

I have Version: 4.1.1.2 installed and I had no problems installing it and it works just fine. I would like to upgrade. How do I accomplish that?

Does this key exist? Google search returns a lot of sobbing at similar errors. Some of the answers there might help you.

LibreOffice installer uses MSI system to install programs. So if you have a problem with installation there is most probably nothing wrong with LibreOffice, but on other hand something wrong with Windows MSi system on your computer.

Try searching the web with string: MSI 1402

and you will get a lot of help. For example: http://www.okino.com/conv/changing_windows_registry_permissions.htm
