Windows 7 64. Avid LibreOffice user. Was emailed a document from a client (.docx, which they always send me). It's 48 pages long and in English (comments in the margin in Swedish). This is standard.

Today, with the 48-page document, LibreOffice keeps crashing and recovering only the first 5.

I've tried cutting the last 10 pages, which are references (probably EndNote), charts (probably MS Word), and graphs (also probably MS Word). The dang thing just crashes before I can cut and paste!

This document is not unlike other docs I'm sent, so I can't figure out what's going on.

Please help!

Many thanks from Sweden

EDIT: I've uninstalled and reinstalled LibreOffice, but it's still happening. I read something about the latest Java updates causing problems with LibreOffice, and I did just OK the latest Java update earlier today. If that's the cause, I sure don't know how to fix it. I thought reinstalling would help, but no.

Thanks for your reply, mariosv.

As this problem concerns my job, I've given up and gone over to MS Word. I can't afford any more LibreOffice screw ups.

It's rather frustrating, not only because LibreOffice has cost me several days' work, but because I prefer using it over MS Word. heavy sigh

Thanks again, mariosv.

I've used the latest LibreOffice since it came out, but never had this problem. I use it daily. My clients email MS Word from 2003 up to the latest, and I've never had a problem.

This one seems to have custom coding, at least in part of it.

It's crashes so many times, I've spent now a good 7 hours on it. I uninstalled LibreOffice and reinstalled, repaired, rebooted my computer, tried the darn document on OpenOffice (had to uninstall it and reinstall LO), tried it on MS Word home edition's trial...and found it had custom xml.

My computer crashed today. The recovered LO document I was working on (the one I'v been trying to work on since yesterday) was not recovered fully. Only part of page one was recovered. Argh!

:(

Try one of pre-releases version, newer Libo version better compatibility with MS pseudo-open files.
