[Calc] Document won't update after changing template

Hello,

I think I’m doing something wrong, or maybe one of my settings is incorrect. I downloaded the newest LO fresh, version 4.4.1.2 (for Windows) and now I’m trying to attach a document to a (self-created) template. The attaching seems to work fine, because when I take a look at the document’s properties it shows the name of the template. After changing or adding a style in the template and then saving it, when opening the attached document I expected to see a pop-up message asking me if I want to update the document. However this doesn’t happen.

What could be the problem? I am reinstalling my computer and therefore haven’t executed all Windows updates yet. Could that be the problem? I actually don’t think so because I don’t get any error messages whatsoever. So what could I be doing wrong? Is there a special way of attaching the document to the template? I see the name of the template in the document’s properties, so I think I did correctly. Could there be some option/setting that is preventing the document from being updated? I tried creating several new templates and documents, but it just won’t work. Any advice would be very welcome.

Hi - The Updating feature with sticky templates is related to the location of the template.

More info here.

Perhaps this explains your problem?

Thanks for replying. As far as I can see the template is located in the correct (My Templates) folder.

Prior to this version I installed 4.3.5 and updating didn’t work then either. Yesterday I installed the newest version ON TOP of it to see if anything would change. Then it did work, and I got to see the pop-up! So then I reverted my computer to an old back-up/image, I deinstalled version 4.3.5 and cleanly installed the newest version. I was expecting it to work as it did yesterday, but again it doesn’t. When I deinstalled the prior version, my configuration settings were somehow not deinstalled (is that standard behavior?) because my configuration settings are (as far as I can see) still the same. Could it be some configuration setting is interfering with the update process?

I truly hope you can help me out here.

Preserving the profile is in fact the standard procedure. This will keep customizations (templates, macros, etc.).

You can check if your problem comes from the profile by renaming it as explained in this
