SERIOUS WARNING! "Close" button acts as "OK"

I am using the latest version of LO and noticed some very strange (and dangerous) behavior.

In some occasions (I didn’t try them all of course) pressing the “close” button of a pop-up box, has the same result as clicking the “OK” button.

For example, I wanted to delete a template. By mistake I selected the wrong template, so I closed the pop-up box (by pressing the little cross). Instead of aborting the operation (normal behavior) my template got deleted (as if I had pressed the “OK” button). So gone was my template. I tried to repeat this behavior and the exact same thing happened.

Another example. Create a new style. Now modify this style by changing the background color to, for example, red. Do NOT click the “OK” button, but instead click the “close” button (the little cross). Now try modifying your style again … surprise surprise, you will notice that your background color has been saved, while you didn’t press the “OK” button.

This is a serious warning, because it can cause unexpected behavior. In my case I unintentionally threw away a template.

I cannot reproduce either of the described situations with LO 4.3.3.2 on Ubuntu Gnome 14.10. Can you describe which LO version and what operating system you have?

I am using version 4.4.1.2 (the latest version) on Windows 7.

BTW: why did you use [x]close -button instead the obvious cancel-button ??

Because normally they have the exact same behavior. Closing a dialog box or cancelling an action do normally both have the same result: abort the current operation. Which button you press is a matter of personal choice actually. Sometimes I press cancel, sometimes I press close. There is no specific reason to click one of them.

Locale: fr_FR

First Issue:
In Writer, Calc… (not from the Start Center of course)

1. File> Templates> Manage
2. Click to select the template
3. Click “Delete” in the toolbar. Expected & actual result: dialog opens “Do you want to delete…”
4. Close the dialog with the cross (not “Yes”, not “No” buttons).

Expected: deletion is canceled
Actual result: template deleted

Second Issue

1. File New Text
2. Right click “Default Style” in the “Styles & formatting” panel of the sidebar then New
3. Organize tab, replace “Untitled1” by what you want (e.g. Foo)
4. Change tab (e.g. click Indents & Spacing). We can see that the name of the new style is already in the list
5. Close the dialog with the cross: style remains.
6. Right click the “foo” style, you can not delete.
7. Save and reload the document: “ghost” style has disappeared.

As this has been reproduced, you should file a bug for it at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/. Mention the steps to reproduce and set the version as 4.4.1.1 and OS as Windows 7. You can link to this thread. Do search for an existing bug before filing a new one though.
