Unable to save my work

I’m unable to save my work no matter which ‘save as type’ I click on. Keep getting “You can’t save here. Please choose another location”.

Please add required details: Which steps did you try to save the file exactly? Is it a document created new from scratch, or did you open an already existing document? If second case: where’s the file saved currently? Where did you try to save the file (complete path please)?

I’m unable to save new and existing documents. When I click on the option to save, the ‘save as’ box appears, but it won’t let me save to any of the choices (ODF Text Doc, Open Office, Micosoft Word, HTML, RTF, etc.)…just get a pop-up statng “You can’t save here. Please choose another location”. Isn’t there a number I can call? This is taking too long.

In the “Save as” dialog, at the top, you’ve the address bar. There, you can set the directory where to save the doc. At the left, you have a list of paces where to save the doc. What do you select there? Does it matter if you change the place where to save the doc?

Yes, that was the problem. I changed the address bar to save in documents and now it’s working. Thank you so much!

This isn’t a LO / file type matter, i suppose. This error indicates that you want to save the file to a location where you don’t have write permissions (maybe a read-only medium like CD-R / DVD-R, maybe a permissions issue). Try to save the document at another location.

(converting comments to an answer so we can close out this question)
