isn't it time to change LO's gui to a new one? i think there are many good ideas for that... however i say thanks to all of LO's developers with all new features in the last versions i use always LO for that's advantages but this is my request from developers to change LO's GUI and i think that this is a good idea because of it's perfect foe wide screen LCD's
There are better channels to communicate ideas to developers. For design ideas you might want to join libreoffice-design group.
That said, there is always one thing that is often forgotten when discussing design choices. There are people out there who use LibreOffice to do actual work and not all of them are quick learners as you probably are. Therefore any change in UI might result in a need to re-learn some tasks. Which means any change you ever make has to be justified and maybe implemented in small steps or it will cost someone a lot of money. Some LibO users prefer it just because of it's rather stagnant UI (e.g no ribbon).
+1 to joining the Design/UX Team
@ali, I think those screenshots look great each time they're brought up, but I'm not sure if anyone has spent the time to present them to the UX team. If you'd like to work with them, I'm sure they could use your help!

Therefore, as @mahfiaz mentioned already, changes of a UI should be done only when there is a functionality requirement and not just for the sake of having something new.
Productivity is most important - for me; but I feel that most other users although prefer productivity over new looks.
Indeed, improved functionality should mandate an appropriate UI change. What I perceive is that it is very desirable to modernize LibO’s widget toolkit so that future incremental UI changes are easier. Wishful thinking: make LibO’s toolkit so good that other projects want to use it for their UI!

A touch screen is nice and needed with a tablet PC, there I like it.
But for daily work I prefer my keyboard and large screen more then 100 cm away from me. Thus, what are W8, touch screen and Ribbons are good for if my arms are too short?
Beside this I like the speed of my keyboard and mouse! and for sure LibO!
Windows 8 touch user interface is not enough to think about changing to Ribbon Interface?
