I think the StartCenter is too bright, so is there an option to 'darken' it or change it? I've seen this - "http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/2/28/Keep_It_Simple_start_center_screenshot.png" - but I'm not sure how to use it.

Thwe picture you see there is for LO3.6. Upgrade to 3.6.5 or 4.0 and see if the splash screen is better for you.

Hi @jaybiz3,

One option would be to build your own copy of LibreOffice and modify the screen that way. That might be a little overkill, but I think it might get the job done :-)

You could try poking around in the LibreOffice files on disk and see if the splash screen is stored as a regular image file on disk. It's quite possible that it's been compiled-into some larger binary and you can't tweak it on-disk. For example, the image of the loading screen (with the progress bar) apparently lives here:

  • install/opt/libreoffice4.0/program/intro.png

If after searching for the image file you're still stumped, please file an enhancement bug and ask for a mechanism for tweaking this file as an end-user. Don't forget to mark your bug as an 'enhancement'. The QA team will be happy to help you triage your feature request in the bugtracker.

Please post a link to any bugs you file in a comment below using the format "fdo#123456".

Thanks!
