How do I open Writer Directly

I would rather have desktop shortcuts that open each application directly rather than go through the common interface as LibreOffice works normally. Is that possible? How?

Thanks,
BillW

You have not specified your OS nor version.

Mine is Linux (Debian 6.0) & 4.4.4.3. Here is help on creating those shortcuts directly from the binary (it is actually launched from a GUI shortcut) (I’ve cut out most options for the sake of brevity):

:~$ /opt/libreoffice4.4/program/soffice.bin --help
LibreOffice 4.4.4.3 2c39ebcf046445232b798108aa8a7e7d89552ea8

Usage: soffice [options] [documents...]

Options:
--help/-h/-? show this message and exit.
--writer create new text document.
--calc create new spreadsheet document.
--draw create new drawing.
--impress create new presentation.
--base create new database.
--math create new formula.
--global create new global document.
--web create new HTML document.

If this helps then please tick the answer (:heavy_check_mark:).

Sorry, I forgot to mention my software type. I’m using Windows 8.1.

I am using Windows 7 with the portable version of LO. At the first level of the directories there are .exe files to launch the portable versions, which in turn launch the standard versions as well as doing other things to enable the portability. In a deeper level of the installation directory there are .exe files such as swriter.exe, simpress.exe, etc. I suspect that if you check the installation directory for your system you will find a similar arrangement. Executing these specific .exe files directly or through a shortcut should accomplish what you want.

Thanks for the answer. I can take it from here on my Win8.1 system.
