Hi,

I'm running:

Ubuntu 12.04 kernal 3.2.0-29-generic-pae

on an athlon processor

and I've installed (using the synaptic package manager): libreoffice 1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1 libreoffice-writer 1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1

When I click on the desktop libreoffice-writer icon nothing happens, when I try to launch using the icon in the "dash" desktop area, the same behavior occurs. In past releases of ubuntu (i.e., release 10.11), libreoffice-writer launched when I clicked on the destop icon.. is there any way I can get libreoffice-writer to work?

(I'm experiencing the same behavior for libreoffice calc, and impress).

Thanks, Stephen

What does happen if you open a terminal window and run the command "soffice --writer"?

Typing "soffice --writer" in a term window it doesn't work, either

You could take a look at the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications whether the exec commands are correct

What means "doesn't work either" exactly? No output? Error output?
