I have an xls file that i've been using consistently with libreoffice. I just used it two days ago. Now I go to open it and it keeps opening it as a text document rather than a spreadsheet. Is anyone else having this problem? Or know of a solution?

All three have current status of NEEDINFO.

So it sounds like this may just be an issue with a particular install of LO on a particular computer.

I run Version 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214) and have exactly this issue: XLS files that would open in 3.5.something do not open in 3.6.1. They are not recognized as what they are
There are 3 bug reports I could find with that problem
Add example files in which LibO 3.6 have troubles and describe your situation

When you try to open xls file it could't be opened and Import dialog appears? If so, then there is a problem in LibO 3.5.6 with some files (xls, doc, ppt). If you install latest LibO 3.6.1.2 then everything would be fine. There are several reports in bugzilla with this problems
