How to make Gmail the default LibreOffice email service on Ubuntu 12.04

I’ve been unable to find a way to do this. Any suggestions ?..

Henri

Thanks, arthurginspain,. but - and perhaps I should have made this explicit - I want to avoid using email clients ; otherwise I could have used the default Evolution. I have set Gmail as my default email service in Ubuntu ; is it possible to do so in LibreOffice without using an email client ?

The answer to this (similar) question only seems to apply to Windows and OSX: How do I sync gmail to libre?

Hi @mhenriday,

Take a look at this HowTo that tells you how to set up GMail as your default mail client in Ubuntu:

Once GMail is set as your default mail client, I think clicking links in LO should just work.

To enable email in libreoffice - need thunderbird email app - this is already installed in ubuntu 12.04.

you can find it here /applications/internet/thunderbird

first go into your gmail account and enable imap its under settings imap ( it should be disabled - just enabl it - save settings.

configure thunderbird - using your gmail account ( don’t forget contact list and messages)

test with libreoffice - worked for me

good luck
