I have this .odt file with a bunch of externally loaded images. I would like to save all the images on my local harddrive and preferably even rename them in the process. Doing it manually image by image is a lot of clicking so I'm hoping there is a simpler way like a macro or some kind of a script.
It is not the role of LibreOffice to do that, it is at the level of you operating system that you can do that.
The only thing you can do with LibreOffice, is to incorporate the linked images in the odt file. To do that : menu Edit > Links... > select all links and click the "Break Link" button.

After the incorporation of your linked images (menu Edit > Links... > select all links and click the "Break Link" button), save and close your file. And because your odt file is a special zip file, you only have to unzip your file - with the help of uncompress tool like 7-zip. In the extracted folder, you will find the "Pictures" folder which contains your pictures freshly downloaded ... with libreoffice ;)
