I am using LO 3.5 on Windows XP SP 3. From previous work with StarOffice and Open Office I have many files with the extension .sdc. When I try to open them with LO 3.5 I get a popup window with many opening filters to select from. SDC is not among them. The opening fails.

Yet, when I copy those .sdc files to my Linux PC (PCLinuxOS, latest updates) but running LO 3.4 the files open flawlessly. Is the Problem in Windows or in LO 3.5?

Hi Anonymous, Are you still having the same problem? Have you tried a 3.6 or 4.0 build to see if the bug has been fixed?

Interesting, that was a known bug, fixed in LibreOffice 3.4 for both Windows and Mac OSX:

So if it's not working for you, it may be a good indication the bug is back - that would be a regression bug.

In the above bug reports comments theres is indication this bug is not present in Gnu/Linux. If you have such a system handy or if you can afford installing VirtualBox and a Gnu/Linux distribution as a virtual machine, you may use that for conversion, as a workaround.

Can you specify which exact version of LibreOffice 3.4.x works for you ? Can you also make available an SDC (Calc) and SDW (Writer) files so this can be reproduced quickly to file a bug report ?

A workaround until this has better resolution would be to to save your SDC files in ODF using LibreOffice 3.4.5. You can find older versions of LibreOffice here.

I think you can select to install the legacy filters, selecting custom install.
