Just recently, if I edit the master slides, I no longer get the small popup box that allows me to close the master view. Since I cannot see any other way of closing this, I am left with having to close Impress in order to get back to my work. Any ideas how to fix this and get my close box back? Is this a bug?

If a feature has gone missing, that might be a bug, might be some config option that's changed, or might be a conscious change by the UX team.
Please feel free to file an enhancement bug and ask for this popup box back. Don't forget to mark your bug as an 'enhancement'. The QA team will be happy to help you triage your feature request in the bugtracker.
