New 12.04 32 bit instal. I open any libreoffice prog (ie writer or calc), there is a corrupt toolbar - ie no proper File,Edit, View, etc- and drop-down menus are scrambled. Please can you tell me what file or library might be missing and how to repair. I have tried removing and reinstalling LibreOffice, but this does not solve prob. Thanks.

Thank you for your suggestion. The problem is that after loading, say, Writer; I do not have the normal 'File,Edit, View, etc' toolbar at the top - all I have is '-' in place of each name. When I click on the '-', I get a drop menu on which all the items are displaced and largely 'scrambled'. Some file or Library is, perhaps missing or corrupt I guess.

In Ubuntu, toolbars are hidden by default. Did you try to put your mouse over the black top bar, near from where the name of the program is written?
