I'm working on a large document which has a sequence of image numbers. Later additional chapters might be added, so I'm wondering how I can set up the index (number underneath with a description) of the images to be automatically updated in case new images are inserted at a later occasion?

  1. Add an image or two...

  2. Right-click on image

  3. Select: Caption...

  4. Choose desired settings

  5. Insert Index to your document via: Insert > Indexes and Tables > Index and Tables...

  6. Choose Type: Illustration Index

  7. The Index itself is updatable via right-click on the titel-row (of the Index) , choose: Update Index/Table

That's it.
