How do I go from a column format to a no-column format within the same document? "Insert > manual break > page break" does not disable the column feature, but acts globally on the document. Is there any way to do this?

Put the two groups of text in different sections, then apply the columns feature. See this link for more explanation.

Are 2 or more columns defined in the Default page style?
