Are there any plans regarding the "Draft Layout" (aka Normal view) proposal already from OOo times (http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Writer_Views#Draft_Layout)? This was one of the most requested features back in OOo times and I doubt the need for such a feature has disappeared.
Relevant bug report is here https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37967 but there are no official comments.

Nobody here can have better and more current information than you see in Bug 37967 - UI: "normal" view option needed.
So the Bug is the best place to participate or to watch for latest news
