Styles menu logic

Don’t understand logic of styles menu.

  1. Look at “Paragraph’s styles”, see only few of them (around 10)
  2. Click to “Symbol’s styles” and return back to “Paragraph’s styles”, see lot of them (around 50 or more).

Why so happened and how regulate it?

Styles are categorized. When it is first opened the Styles and Formatting dialog shows Automatic styles (see the pull-down menu at the bottom of the Styles and Formatting dialog). When you click on character styles and back to paragraph styles then All styles are displayed.

If you create a new paragraph style you can assign it to a style category, but Automatic is not one of the options. I did not discover how to add a style to the Automatic category or to change an existing style to automatic.
