Any suggestions of how one can perform arithmetic functions in base forms. e.g. multiply one field by another or setting a column in a table to be equal to two or more other columns. Perhaps a simple macro.

Sounds like you could just use some SQL queries to format/concatenate/etc... your data? E.g. like this:
