Is it possible to install a small chunk of LibreOffice just for printing documents.

I have a dual boot system using Ubuntu and MS Windows7. I use Ubuntu all the time and only keep MS Windows for certain things I can’t get Ubuntu drivers for.
I have a Canon printer which has a driver that has lots of useful options for different quality, weights of paper, collating booklets etc. But it isn’t available for Ubuntu. The generic Ubuntu driver does allow it to print but only has basic options.

I could install the full LibreOffice package on MS Windows7, but that is using quite a bit of memory for something only used to print. Is it possible to install a small section of LibreOffice that would enable me to print saved documents.

It’s all or nothing. (“memory” disk or ram?)

You could try Portable LibreOffice stored on a usb stick.

You could even avoid the installation of any LibreOffice component. Just export your document to PDF and use the PDF reader you installed on Windows (if you don’t have one, just install Sumatra PDF which is really lightweight).
