Greetings, I have v6.0.3 and I have read and tried to get page number 1 on page 7. Following what I have read does not totally apply for the new version I have now. Really in need of help and to take me through each step by step. Greatly appreciated.

I don’t know if you’re using styles - but you should. Make new page style for part of your document that should show 1 as page number. Then go Insert → Manual break → Page break and select wanted page style under Style drop down. Check Change page number box and place what ever number you want in text box. Click OK.

I have found that students and others are having this problem with the new writer v6.0.3. Putting several recommendations together here’s step by step for book manuscript formatting page numbering that starts after the first page.
Page number starting lower than the first page for manuscript/book writing.
Putting page 1 on the 7th page down. Remember one page in a book is equal to two pages down on your screen. So I would have to go down 6 screen pages which would equal to 3 book pages. The very next screen page would be my 7th page in the book where I would want page number 1. If you are using writer v6.0.3 or higher, this how you would do it.
Go to View-Toolbars-Formatting (styles)-Right click anywhere on the new bar that appears on the top or on the side in older versions. Click on ‘New’ that appears in the window that opens. Where it says, ‘Create Style’ type in ‘My Style’ or what ever name you want for a new style.
Go to page 6, or to the page above where you want number 1 to appear. Leave cursor at top of page left side blinking. Go to, Insert-Manual Break- in the next window pick, Page break-look below where it says ‘Style’ click the down arrow and click, ‘Index’, now check, ‘Change page number’ pick Page 1 or what ever page number you want. Now take the cursor down the page where it’s at, till it hits the footer line on the left side still blinking.
Go to ‘Insert’- Header and Footer-just touch Footer and a window will appear and in the next window pick, ‘Index’, now the cursor is blinking below the footer line on your page.
Now hit, ‘Insert’ - Field-then in the window that opens pick, ‘Page Number’. Page number-1 will appear on page 7, or on the page your trying to put number-1 and page-2 will appear in the next page. While your cursor is still beside the page number-1 and 1 is highlighted you might want to go to the top and hit center horizontally to move your numbers to the center of the page or to the right.
This is a mix between styling and direct formatting and I would not recommend this method. You are highly, strongly, heartily, insistently encouraged to read the manual about style (or Bryce Byfield’s book) and design a consistent set of styles. Yeah, I know, this needs to spare time to understand and design it but, believe it, it"s worth it. The downside is you don’t type your document at once.
