get addresses from google

Is it possible to import or link my google contact address book?

Import to where? Calc? Base? Writer?

The answer to all 3 is “yes.” Calc is the easiest. From there you can get the data elsewhere.

1) Visit https://www.google.com/contacts and log in

2) Click on MoreExport... near the top.

3) Choose Google CSV format and click Export

4) After the CSV file is downloaded, locate the file where you chose to put it and open it with Calc (or open it with Calc via the prompt when downloading)

5) You should see a dialog like this one. Make sure the settings are similar, especially Separated byComma. Click OK button.

Now that you have your contacts in a Calc spreadsheet, there are a number of things you can do with the information. Perhaps the steps outlined are all you needed to do. Otherwise consider asking a separate question about what to do with the information once in LibreOffice. Search the forum first, as your question might already be answered. Do you want to print the list? Do you want to make mailing labels? Do you want to create a Base database? Do you have a Christmas letter and want to insert names in the salutation at the top (mail merge)?
