This is retarded. I'm sorry, but I just started using LO and have had to deal with this same message when I double-click: "Document file 'SCREENINGS%202014%208.doc' is locked for editing by:

Unknown User

Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing."

I'm running Win8.1 on a desktop.

I don't know this script-editing stuff, nor anything you guys are talking about. I got LO because it was highly-reviewed all over the web, and I just want the thing to work. Double-click, open for editing, boom, done.

I've since discovered that, opening docs from within LO's Open function, that it ONLY shows me the My Documents folder and WILL NOT let me access any files on the desktop, where I have many in use.

SO, what the hell?

This is retarded. stupid. I'm sorry, but I just started using LO and have had to deal with this same message when I double-click: "Document file 'SCREENINGS%202014%208.doc' is locked for editing by:

SO, what gives? I'm frustrated as all get-out, so, apologies for my impatience... but I've already spent an hour in the hell?Options menu with no clue as to what to do.

This is stupid. patently ridiculous. I'm sorry, but I just started using LO and have had to deal with this same message when I double-click: "Document file 'SCREENINGS%202014%208.doc' is locked for editing by:
