You may find Bruce Byfield's new book, "Designing with LibreOffice", interesting as well. It focuses on the use of styles and templates, mainly in Writer but with some info on Calc, Impress, and Draw. As well as LibreOffice, the book gives a great deal of background on the principles of design, using LibreOffice as its model. As such, it is complimentary to the existing LibreOffice manuals, and, I believe, was sponsored by the Document Foundation.

A PDF of the book, and/or a zip file of the chapter ODTs, can be downloaded free from the book's website. If you prefer, you can buy a printed copy as I did at http://designingwithlibreoffice.com
