Ask LibreOffice - RSS feedhttps://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questions/Questions and answers for LibreOfficeenTue, 18 Jun 2019 18:29:12 +0200I need help in creating a lookup formula from my chart.https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/198078/i-need-help-in-creating-a-lookup-formula-from-my-chart/So far I have tried to enter my data as a vertical table for length and weight. These are set whole numbers. I did another table for the weight distributions with percentages and the results I have calculated. I am stuck on the simple starting point of having my list recognize the predetermined weights chosen via a drop down option.
I keep getting this error code---508 ---My sheet info is attached--- I have tried a Vlookup =VLOOKUP(Info.A3:a12l,Info.B3:B12,3,0) i think this was the last formula used, i have used so many that were wrong on my end i can't even see straight.
I have attached my file that i am trying to do [C:\fakepath\Example.ods](/upfiles/15608895037799529.ods)007CharletteTue, 18 Jun 2019 18:29:12 +0200https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/198078/Why does Calc add unnecessary sheet reference? Can I prevent it from doing so?https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/94036/why-does-calc-add-unnecessary-sheet-reference-can-i-prevent-it-from-doing-so/ I am using LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 on a Mac running OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks). When I enter a formula referencing another sheet, it changes *all* of the formula (formulas?) *everywhere* to include superfluous references to the sheet.
For example, a Calc document (workbook, in MS Office parlance) contains two sheets. Let's call them S-One and S-Two. On S-One, I have a 700 rows of data, with one of the columns containing a running total, with a formula like [D2] =D1+C2, repeated into every populated row of column D.
If I then enter a value into another cell on S-One, such as [C10] ='S-Two'.E15, LibreOffice Calc rewrites *all* of the formulae everywhere, such that S-One column D now contains entries of the form [D2] ='S-One'.D1+'S-One'.D2
The "local" references to S-One are unnecessary and distracting. For complex formulae, this extra, superfluous labeling only adds to the complexity and makes it much more difficult than it should be to understand what is happening.
Why is it adding these, even when they are unnecessary? Is there any way suppress this behavior?
(I understand that, internally, it probably does keep a fully qualified reference to the cell containing the formula operand. However, it should be smart enough to display for human consumption the shortest possible reference. I don't recall this happening in the past, and I'm not sure when it started.)Jerry OWed, 03 May 2017 03:44:24 +0200https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/94036/How do I use the value a cell from a sheet in a formula on another sheet?https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/86023/how-do-i-use-the-value-a-cell-from-a-sheet-in-a-formula-on-another-sheet/I have a value on the second sheet in cell C2 --> 02/01/2016
I have cells on other sheets with formula such as: --> =TEXT(Sheet2.C2,"mmm - YYYY")
Unfortunately the above equation (on the third sheet) yields the answer --> Dec - 1899
Everything I find concerns filling and propagating, but not using in an equation.
Would appreciate some help.MikieMon, 23 Jan 2017 19:22:52 +0100https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/86023/Libreoffice Calc - relative link to Sheet in formulahttps://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/49593/libreoffice-calc-relative-link-to-sheet-in-formula/Is there any way to create relative link to other Sheet in formula? I need the formula, that point always to right of current Sheet, independently of it's name. Another needs is "current + 2", "current -1", etc.
So I want something like `=A1+{'CurrentSheet'+1}.A1` and `=A1+{'CurrentSheet'-2}.A1` but can't find how to do this. Is this feature exist in LibreOffice or OpenOffice?MurzMon, 20 Apr 2015 08:47:30 +0200https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/49593/
