Writer crashes on any save

Even if the document is empty, every save action results in a crash. This is on version 3.5.4 on kubuntu 12.04. if anyone has a similar problem, i’d like a solution. Alternately I’d like to submit a stacktrace, but I can’t seem to figure out how.

Hi @dartarrow, Please file a bug about this problem. You may attach a stracktrace to the bug report. The QA team will be happy to help you track down this issue! Thanks!

Hey @qubit1, I have honestly no idea how to get the stacktrace. if you could point me int he right direction, that would be great.

qubit hits you with his stick of +10 karma

there…now you should be able to comment on Answers

Have you tried to reset the profile as Timon suggest?

I had the same problem in Kubuntu 12.04.1. Upgrade to LibreOffice 3.6.0.1 solved it for me.

First of all try to update LibO to the latest stable version - 3.5.7 or 3.6.4 (in the early February 3.6.5 и 4.0.0 would be released) and see if your problem is still present. Try to reset user profile http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile It may help in such strange situations.

I have the same problem here with Kubuntu 12.04 and LibreOffice 3.5.4.2. Since about one day LibreOffice Writer and Impress die on “Save As” or “Export” on many different files, which open fine e.g. in older version of OpenOffice.org.

I suspect a recent Ubuntu update that came during the last two days, I have been working with LibreOffice ahead of the weekend without any problem on the same files.

Removing the user profile did not help.

Certainly!

As you probably already know, you may file a bug here.

To get a trace to attach to your bug report, take a look at the bottom of the BugReport wiki page. There’s information on that page about getting backtraces on a variety of OSes.

Once you do file a bug, the QA team will triage your bug report and probably give you a gold star for the stack trace – they’re really understaffed over there, so any help from the reporter is a great timesaver for them

When you file your bug, please post a link to it in a comment below using the format “fdo#123456”.

Thanks!

The exactly same problem with Windows 7!!! It wasn’t the first time that it crashed it very often saves at crash but now 2 hours of work has been lost. It didn’t restore it, I just got an empty document! From now on LibreOffice is useless for me, I tried to save money not to use MS Office, but that never did anything like this, I rather purchase that, if Office sometimes crashed, at least restored my documents

I’m having the same problem with LO4…on Win8, but wasn’t a problem until a couple of months ago. Any solutions?
