How to start page numbering for a doc with a non-one defined number?

I’m trying to start page numbering for a doc with a non-one defined number. LibreOffice Help gives me the 3 step method which leads to a list of options that are grayed out (non-functional). How do I circumvent this?

My specs are:
Windows 10
LibreOffice 5.3.4.2
hp Envy 2.6 GHZ processor
16, 384 RAM
345.7 GB disk free of 510,8
81 programs installed using 7.11 GB

Hello @rpb1470,

1. select the menu "Insert : Manual Break...",
2. select Type = "Page break",
3. select Style = "Default Style",
4. check the checkbox called "Change page number",
5. type your preferred starting page number into the textbox, and click OK.

Then insert a Page Number Field on the newest page, it should show your preferred starting page number

Thanks “Librebel.” I’ve been fighting this problem for many days.

You’re welcome @rpb1470,

i’ve taken the liberty to restate your Question so that other users can better find it in their searches.
