R and Calc - plugin for R CRAN integration

Hello and thank you for free, community driven software!

There is an R and Calc extension for OpenOffice Calc (fyi, R is an open-source stats program with powerful capabilities), but could one expect it to work on LibreOffice as is? The OO site is http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/R_and_Calc. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to be maintained.

Hi @faraway1nspace,

Have you tried installing the extension? Maybe it will work as-is.

Please let us know how it goes!

@faraway1nspace – Are you still interested in an answer here? Let us know so we can resolve/close this question.

Thanks!

I don’t know if I’m doing it right, but I installed LibreOffice 4.0.3.3, R 3.0.1, and the R4Calc uno package located here (latest I saw):
http://www.11-55.org/rcalc/2008-02-23/RAddon.uno.pkg

After doing the additional configuration (installing and starting Rserve in R), the dialogs from the R4Calc menu will pop up, but you can’t select data ranges, and manually typing them will yield answers. For instance, histogram and boxplot insert an image of the R graphics for both of these.

However, I haven’t been able to make it output anything numerical… typing a cell location for input works for graphical output, but as soon as a cell location is required for output, I can’t get it to run.

This is all on Windows 7.
