A way to prevent autofocusing on a cell in Calc?

I’m using a table with long strings in two columns, side by side. Each cell occupies a large portion of the screen in lenght. When I click on the right column, the program attempts to keep the whole cell in view and moves the viewpoint to include the entirety of the left cell, removing the right cell from the screen. Is there a way to negate this?

In general no. But if you only care about those two columns, you could freeze the first column.

(Menu/View/Freeze Cells and then “Freeze first column”. But it will prevent you from seeing the second column properly.)
