Save MS 2003 .xls spreadsheet with Text Box to .obs format

LibreOffice Calc crashes when saving a MS 2003 .xls spreadsheet that has a Text Box, when saving to .obs format. Save works when the Text Box is removed. Is this a known bug?

More info from scolburn, First, I meant .ods, not .obs. Also, I sent the same .xls file to a friend who is using Debian. It saved with no problems, textboxes and all. She sent the saved .ods file back, and it now works for me, textboxes and all. Thanks

More info from scolburn,

Hi @Scolburn,

You can search for LibreOffice bugs by using this page:

For example, here’s a search for any open bugs mentioning “foo” in the LibreOffice project:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=specific&order=relevance%20desc&bug_status=open&product=LibreOffice&content=foo&list_id=233383

Using that tool, I did find a couple of interesting bugs when searching for “crash xls text box”:

  • fdo#55507 - CRASH when FILEOPEN particular invalid .xls
  • fdo#48239 - FILEOPEN particular document.xls with VBA will CRASH when confirm all Syntax Errors

It’s entirely possible that your bug hasn’t been reported yet. Remember that if a bug is reported twice, we can just mark one as a duplicate of the other… dupes are much better than no bugs at all

I suggest that you search for your bug for a minute or two. If you don’t find anything, please file a bug about the problem. The QA team will be happy to help you track down the issue!

Thanks!
