Why does my text revert to Quotation Style?

I’ve started using writer but I’m having an annoying problem. I tried applying the ‘Quotation’ style as you usually would by selecting a piece of text, which works fine. So I changed it back to ‘Default Style’ and it appears fine.

The problem is, when I start every new line it reverts back to Quotation style and I don’t know why.

Can anyone help?

Hello @user2635,

I’m assuming that you are referring to the “Quotations” Paragraph Style.

In a Paragraph Style you can also define which style must be set in the Next paragraph, i.e. when the user presses ENTER.

In the case of the “Quotations” Paragraph Style, by default its Next Style is set to ( again ) “Quotations”, so that the next paragraph will again have the “Quotations” style.

If you don’t want that, then you can change it as follows:

  1. right-click in your document text inside a word that has the “Quotations” style,
  2. in the menu that pops up, select the item “Edit Style…”,
  3. in the dialog that pops up, select the tab “Organizer”,
  4. Click in the dropdown menu called “Next style:”, and select the item “Default Style”,
  5. Click the OK button.

Now the next paragraph style following a “Quotations” paragraph, is the Default Style.
