Impress embed audio and export to PDF

Just wondering…
I am trying to produce a PDF presentation from an Impress Presentation (ver 3.6).
I added an MP3 (and also tried AIFF) to the first page.
The audio plays well enough using the built-in slide-show in Impress.
So, then I try to export to PDF. Builds it OK.
But when I try to run the PDF presentation (Acrobat Reader X) - no audio.

Is this a problem with Acrobat, or does the PDF-export functionality not support embedded audio?

HI @KWSN1673,

It looks like this feature has not yet been implemented:

Please file an enhancement bug and provide as much information as possible. Don’t forget to mark your bug as an ‘enhancement’. The QA team will be happy to help you triage your feature request in the bugtracker.

Please post a link to any bugs you file in a comment below using the format “fdo#123456”.

Thanks!

I have found a workaround - albiet a two-step process - with an additional freeware tool.

I just export the Impress presentation as a PDF, then I use a tool called “PDFrizator” to make some additional changes to the PDF document.

The tool can be found at PDFrizator

This tool is not too difficult to install/use, but it is not completely intuitive for users who are “technology challenged”.

Hopefully this helps others (as a temporary workaround) until more PDF functionality can be built-in to LibreOffice.
