How to setup real time collaboration?

Hi,
my question is following:

How to setup real time collaboration?

According to changelog there should be some improvement in this:
Libreoffice 4-0-new-features-and-fixes

Thought I’m not sure how to do it - I think I need a server side then connect it with the LibreOffice package clients or am I completely wrong?

My point is to setup something like this:
YouTube - LibreOffice Calc collaborative editing prototype

Is it currently possible?
Thanks!

Hi @Jan_HackerWay,

Collaboration over Telepathy Tubes is a neat feature, but it looks like we don’t have any really good updates for you right now. The demos exist, and the feature/tubes2 branch seems to have been merged into master, but that’s about it.

Here’s an external reference to that branch:

Based on your username, you might like to take a crack at building LO with this support added. This is bleeding-edge stuff, so no promises on whether it’ll even compile for you. Take a look at this README for details:

If you have some time and would like to take a crack at some of the TODOs listed, I’m sure the rest of the devs would be happy to review your patches.

Hi,
thank you for your reply. I will take a look at it and report back if I have any success…
Thanks!
Jan

@Jan_HackerWay – Any updates to report?

I too would like this to be up and running. A hostable network CMIS with live editing is great and could prevent my co workers from sharing company documents on Google Docs to “anyone with the link”. Pleaseee

@jedmands – Please feel free to hop-in on the development bandwagon here. We always love to have more ‘hands on deck’
